Come on, what would we even talk about? How he became the total opposite of everything I believe in? Why would I want to hear about that?

I was thinking you might remind him of how he once was, and that he would have more to learn from you.

[He scoffs.]

It didn't look like he wanted to learn anything from me back home.

Different situations, different circumstances. You two aren't enemies in a war, for one.

We weren't enemies then, either! Tohsaka and I were allied, so we were on the same side! Hell, he even saved our lives.

[Which was pretty cool, admittedly. BUT STILL.]

And if he had won that fight, and eventually it had come down to your team and Tohsaka's team, what would have happened?

...Presumably the same thing that actually did happen. We would have fought Kotomine and Gilgamesh and destroyed the Grail. It's not like we had any reason to fight each other to begin with.

Maybe he's just embarrassed. Like how someone looks back on decisions they made and say 'why did I do that'.

...You know what he told me the day he visited camp? He said I should get used to being unable to save anyone.

[backspacing]

That...sounds exactly like something he would say, yes.

Camp has made him a bit jaded, unfortunately.

I wasn't lying about him being sweet, though. That's why he left camp: he couldn't handle it anymore.

He asks me every year to leave, you know.

...That sounds more like something I'd do, yeah.

[Also, it sure is a reminder of the thing where Red and Archer are dating and he'd managed to put that off his mind until now but he's remembering it now and it's making it a whole lot more awkward that he's just hanging out in Red's room.]

He works for the same people I do. He handles other 'problems' in different areas of the world.

Different things. More like the lake cats, or other monsters like that.

There is a lot of danger in this world, and not many people strong enough to handle it.

...That's what heroes are for.

[Or at least they're supposed to be. But this camp, much like Archer, spits in the face of everything Shirou thinks a hero should be.]

A cat is a hero to men, who see it as a source of comfort and protection from vermin. But that same cat is a monster to mice, who only see it as a predator.

It shouldn't be like that.

[It's not enough. Everyone should be saved.]

My point is that one person's hero is another person's monster.

[He is super dense.]

You don't need to tell me that. I know how the world works.

[Doesn't mean he has to like it.]
